Representatives of the National Institute for Research and Development for Earth Physics (NIEP) will attend, at the meeting of the Organization for the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) of the Ad-Hoc Working Group of the Seismic Risk Assessment Experts. The meeting will take place on November 5 at the BSEC headquarters in Istanbul, Turkey.

The purpose of the meeting is to present the progress made at national level in seismic risk assessment and the establishment of new channels of cooperation with risk assessors from neighboring Black Sea countries.

The General Director, Constantin Ionescu, will announce the activities and projects of the institute, and Dr. Carmen O. Cioflan, chief scientific researcher in the first degree within the INFP, will present the work "Near real time impact assessment of strong earthquakes in Romania", which is centralized on the near real-time estimation system for possible earthquake damage (SeisDaRO).

Established in 1992, BSEC is made up of 12 Member States: Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Ukraine, Republic of Moldova, Russia, Georgia, Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Greece, Serbia. Membership was not limited only to the countries that came to the Black Sea. The purpose of this organization is to ensure stability, bilateral and multilateral collaboration, economic development and improvement of the business environment.
