  Romanian Educational Seismic Network (ROEDUSEIS)

Created in 2012 as a first seismological education initiative in Romanian schools, Romanian Educational Seismic Network (ROEDUSEIS) wants to bring closer to pupils, students and teachers important topics in the field of Earth Sciences, through direct involvement in the monitoring, analysis and interpretation of earthquakes.

Among the results and actions supported:

  • deployment of educational seismometers and their use and data recorded for teaching and seismic risk awareness;
  • training students and teachers on topics in the field of Earth Sciences (using non-formal approaches) and in the use of seismic recording equipment
  • creation and dissemination of educational resources designed to introduce topics from seismology for students in pre-university education;
  • development of an educational seismic laboratory dedicated to internships within the INFP. Also in this direction, INFP is co-organizer of the Summer School of Science and Technology from Măgurele where topics in the field of seismology are adapted and proposed to high school students as applied research projects. For students, an internship program offers annually the chance to a limited number of students to carry out activities on topics specific to the research field.
